Ruth grew up on a farm in the wheatbelt and learned to sew at the age of 7.
“Growing up on a farm my mum was always helping dad on the farm so if I wanted dolls clothes I had to learn to make them myself.” Ruth Goldsmith
She learned on a treadle sewing machine but as her legs weren’t long enough her dad tied a block of wood to the treadle. By 10 years old she was a competent sewer and Mum entered her work in the adult section at the local show where she won a number of prizes. From then on she was making all her own clothes and continued sewing for many years including making all her kids’ clothes. She also took on sewing some Bridal Gowns until a bridezilla came along…
She then turned her yearning for learning to patchwork & quilting, starting the old fashioned way – by hand. Her sewing evolved in many different directions, particularly when she started to supplement her income at markets, and she now specialises in making reusable, sustainable, eco friendly products.
All her reusable products are made with 100% cotton fabric & 100% cotton towelling and include: Reusable Kitchen Wipes, dish Cloths, makeup Wipes, microwave bowl cosies, pot holders, placemat sets, casserole carriers, and aprons for children and adults.
