Facilities and Accessibility at Markets

Origins Market, is a place unique in its ethos, its design, its operation, and its character. It is uniquely Western Australian where like-minded growers, producers, and makers come together under one 3,232 square metre roof  to share their passion and their products with the community and visitors. It’s also got all the facilities you need to make your visit an enjoyable one!

Accessibility

At Origins we provides an inclusive space for all, designed to ensure appropriate access for wheelchairs, walkers and prams. There are no steps, doorways or stairs, spacious walkways and flexible spaces/dining areas. There is a universal access toilet, a wheelchair on site for use if required and accessible parking bays at the front doors.

Our spacious Parent Room is located near the indoor playground and is decked out with relaxing chair, microwave to heat bottles, change table and games for other little ones to play with while Mum or Dad is occupied with the baby.

While dogs are not allowed inside the market, your furry friends are allowed to sit with you in the outdoor alfresco dining area near the Homestead Tavern.

You can find a dog bowl, for them to get a drink near the bike racks at the front of the building. Designed by artist Alan Meyburgh, if you look closely it portrays swan eggs, an essential part of the ecosystem of the neighbouring wetlands.

Indoor Playground

An indoor nature-based playground!  Enjoy climbing here while mum and dad relax with a coffee.

Check out the artwork by local artist Ian Mutch.  His work brings life to the playground and envelops the buzz of the observational beehive – don’t forget to go look at the bees!

Sustainability

Sustainability is part of our ethos, as a business closely aligned with the neighbouring wetlands, Origins is committed to being as green as possible.

Four bins are provided at various locations throughout the market. Please dispose of your waste in the correct one – recycling, bio organics, containers for change or landfill. If you’re unsure, read the signage about  what items can be disposed of in each stream.

Bike & scooter Racks

If you ride your bike or scooter to the market you can safely lock it up at the racks at the front of the building. Also created by Alan Meyburgh, the sculptural bike racks with seats look like wetlands reeds.

Observational Bee Hive

The glass-fronted observational beehive is a key feature of our immersive food experience where Origins Market visitors can appreciate where their food comes from – the humble honeybee, and its connection to the end product.

Watch the bees make their way out of the tunnel to play in the wetlands, see if you can spot the Queen bee and can you count all the drone bees?
