Weaving the Origins Story

A cornerstone of the Origins Market ethos centres around the storytelling aspect of an artisan’s process and what each piece or product means to them.

We met with some amazing makers to hear their stories, as well as a woman who has been called the walking encyclopaedia of Margaret River!

River Rugs

Marrying Scandinavian tradition with local, recycled materials, River Rugs are truly unique, one-of-a-kind pieces hand crafted in Margaret River.

Maker Sonja comes from a long line of artisans and weavers, a tradition she is now proud to carry on here in the South West.

Crafted in the traditional Finnish Rag Rug or Räsymatto style, each rug has a story to tell.

Sonja will be weaving her rugs on site at Origins Market and we can’t wait to share this experience with you!

Crafted Busselton Farm

Using fresh goat milk to create a range of decadent bathing products at Smudge Soap , as well as hand spun mohair from her own goats, Cath from Crafted Busselton’s ethical and sustainable farming practices are what makes her the perfect Origins Market Trader.

She will be installing her spinning wheel at Origins Market to hand spin her mohair on site so stay tuned for activation announcements when we open!

We hope you enjoyed getting to know some of our local makers and operators this week!

Stay tuned for our next adventure!
