We’ve long known the talent that calls Western Australia’s South West region home, and we’re excited to announce a few recognisable faces who will be helping us celebrate the opening of Origins Market.
Origins Market will officially open its doors at 10am on Friday 5 November, with local residents getting an exclusive look at over 60 of Western Australia’s best makers, producers and artisans.
The celebrations will continue across the weekend, with Margaret River local and former Masterchef contestant Samira Damirova hosting a live cooking demonstration on Saturday 6 November.
Sharing her love of Azerbaijani cuisine, Samira will be on stage at 12:30pm making manti (Azerbaijani filled flatbreads), including a hands-on demonstration for anyone in the crowd who’d like to get involved.
Growing up in Azerbaijan, Samira moved to Australia in her early twenties and is passionate about bringing Azerbaijan’s colourful and diverse cuisine to Australians and beyond. Now residing in Margaret River, Samira says the region provides her with ample opportunities to engage in a number of culinary ventures utilising the vast array of fine local produce the area is famous for – including Busselton’s new foodie destination, Origins Market.
Local talent continues to shine on Sunday 7 November with Dunsborough teenager Sofia Watt taking to the stage at 12:30pm. After a popular stint on the 7 Network’s The Voice, Sofia has made a name for herself as a talented young performer with a ‘big diva voice’.
