Â
Looking for a winter gift?Â
Origins Market is home to some of the finest makers, creators and producers in the South West. You can find bespoke clothing, gourmet food and drink, sustainable homewares and quirky accessories; all under one roof!Â
Here are our top finds at the market this week.Â
Truffles
It’s truffle season in the South West! From now until September is the best time to pick up these beautiful little black fungi. Foodies adore them (Jordan Bruno used them in his recent cooking demonstration at the markets) and they are a perfect gift for that friend that loves to cook. These locally grown black truffles from The Margaret River Truffle Farm are individually vacuum sealed to keep them fresh. Pick them up from Fine Foods Providore, right next to the fresh produce section.Â
Handmade scarves
How about a handmade scarf to keep them cosy and warm? Puck and Dougal Wool – named after her Angora goats – is the yarn business of Cath Miller. Her products are made using all natural fibres which she spins herself to create the yarn. The yarn is dyed or kept natural depending on her mood, and then knitted or woven into stunning scarves and beanies. The fibres used are from animals are raised on Cath’s property – the Mohair from her goats, silkworms and other wools such as superfine merino and alpaca. You can find them at Crafted in Busselton in Artisan Alley.
A potted succulent
Colourful and low maintenance. Plants are the perfect gift to brighten up someone’s day. The Succulent Lady is the go-to for succulents in Busselton. Michelle Walker has a wonderful range of plants and planters at her stall and all the plants are grown locally at her Dalyellup property. Michelle knows a thing or two about plants too and is happy to share her wisdom, so you choose the best plant.Â
Dog accessories
How about a new collar or one of these cute harnesses for your furry friend? You’ll find a whole range of accessories (and necessities) at the new Sly Dogz stall. Jumpers, coats, leads, poop bag holders, literally everything your doggo will ever need all in one place. Based in Dunsborough, Leigh designs and hand sews all of her products. They look great and they are top quality. Your dog will love you for it.Â
For little peopleÂ
Gifts for children are always fun to buy and it’s even better when they are made locally. These unique ragdolls at The Thread Teller make a beautiful gift for a newborn and will be cherished for a lifetime. Tricia handcrafts every piece with a whole lot of love and her trusty sewing machine. Her little stall is stocked full of winter outfits from flannel jackets and floral dresses for toddlers to adorable pants and beanies for 3-6 months. The range is adorable, and you will never see more than two of a kind.
